Veterinary Exam

Routine veterinary exams help us to ensure all of your pet’s healthcare needs are being taken care of. Depending on your pet’s age and stage of life, they might need to see us more or less frequently. The goal of these visits is to create or update your pet’s wellness plan, which includes preventive healthcare measures like vaccinations and their monthly parasite preventive.

What should I expect during my pet’s wellness exam?

During your pet’s wellness exam, we will do a physical assessment, where we thoroughly examine your pet’s body. In addition, a diagnostic workout, which might include blood, fecal and urine tests will allow us to check if your pet has any underlying diseases or infections caused by parasites. Early detection helps us treat any issues that arise, ensuring your pet can live as long and healthy a life as possible. Preventive medicine is also at the core of our practice, which includes giving your pet vaccinations based on their need and prescribing parasite preventives. We might also do some dental work if needed.

When should I book it?

The frequency of veterinary visits depends on your pet’s age and overall health. Since pets age at such a rapid rate, we want to make sure we’re keeping up with any changes to their health. Kittens or puppies might need to see us frequently in their first year of life while adult pets should visit us at least once a year. For furry friends in their golden years, they should see us at least once every 6 months. If your pet is due for their wellness exam, please contact us at 905.682.7857.

How should I care for my pet in between visits?

In between visits, it’s important to keep up with all the practices that ensure your pet is happy and healthy including:

  • Brushing their teeth
  • Grooming them regularly
  • Feeding them a balanced and healthy diet
  • Spending quality time together
  • Making note of any concerns to share during your next visit
