Dermatology Services for Pets

It might be tempting to treat your pet’s skin issues with home remedies or over the counter medicine, however this can often cause more harm than good. If your pet is experiencing any skin issues, be sure to book an appointment with our veterinary team so we can help you properly address it.

How do I know if my pet has a skin condition?

Through the course of their lifetime, it’s common for your pet to experience skin issues. Some signs you might look out for are:

  • New lumps or bumps
  • Scooting
  • Hair or fur loss
  • Red, irritated or dry skin
  • Constant scratching or licking

What could be causing my pet’s skin issues?

Our veterinary team are the best ones to answer this question, after an examination of your pet’s skin issues. If you’ve noticed any of the above symptoms, please contact our veterinary team so we can offer a diagnosis at 905.682.7857. Just like humans, pets can have allergic reactions to environmental irritants like pollen or cleaning detergents. Food sensitivities and allergies can also be the culprit of your pet’s skin condition. External parasite bites and bacterial infection can also cause dry, itchy skin.

How do you treat skin issues?

Depending on the condition, our veterinary team will recommend the best type of treatment to soothe your furry family member’s irritated skin. We might ask you to change any soaps or other chemicals that might be causing the irritation as well as altering your pet’s diet. It’s important to maintain your pet’s skin with consistent grooming and upkeep of their hygiene practices.
